Last October, for the second year in a row, Days for Better Ways welcomed an intimate gathering of leaders, innovators, and professionals from healthcare and aged care. Over two days, we created space to share ideas, challenge conventions, and explore how small, thoughtful actions can lead to meaningful change in the way we care for people and support our teams.

From the outset, the aim of DFBW has never been about scale. It’s about depth — fostering conversations that matter, moments that spark reflection, and connections that last long after the sessions have ended. The goal is for attendees to leave not only inspired, but drawn to take action: to try something new, question old ways, and turn insights into impact. Each year, we aim to cultivate an environment where curiosity, empathy, and collaboration sit at the heart of everything we do.
This year’s gathering at the Lancemore Werribee Mansion reflected that vision perfectly. The energy in the room was thoughtful yet powerful, filled with curiosity, collaboration, and meaningful dialogue. Every conversation reminded us why Days for Better Ways exists: to imagine what better could look like — not just for individual organisations, but for the people we care for and the teams who support them every day. It was a reminder that innovation isn’t always about big leaps. Sometimes it’s about considered steps that improve care and strengthen teams.
Over the two days, attendees engaged with thought-provoking talks and shared experiences from our invited international speaker, Dr Martin Vesterby, alongside Wayne Belcher, Caroline Eshak-Liuzzi, and Stephen Kingwell. Their insights sparked reflection and conversation, highlighting practical ideas and approaches that attendees could take back to their own teams. You can read more about this year’s speakers and sessions on the Days for Better Ways website.

The true impact of Days for Better Ways comes from what happens after the sessions. The conversations, questions, and shared experiences were more than reflection — they were invitations to experiment, implement, and make a real difference. This focus on actionable ideas is what sets the gathering apart, offering attendees the chance to step outside daily routines, connect with others committed to better care, and leave with a clear drive to put new insights into practice.
Looking ahead to 2026, we’re excited to see how these conversations evolve, how new collaborations take shape, and how attendees continue to translate insights into action. For those who joined us this year, we hope you left feeling empowered to make small but meaningful changes. And for those who couldn’t attend, you can discover more about what happened at Days for Better Ways 2025, the conversations that sparked action, and how to be part of next year’s gathering.

Days for Better Ways continues to grow intentionally and purposefully — not by scale, but by the depth of the ideas it inspires and the actions it encourages. When people come together with curiosity, empathy, and a shared commitment to better care, meaningful change is possible.
